Boat Rental Cost Calculator
Updated October 31, 2026
Rental listings often show a low base price, then add a captain, fuel, service fees, tax and a tip. Enter the numbers from the quote or listing you're looking at to see the full cost and the cost per person. BigSkipper doesn't supply prices; every figure comes from you.
How the math works
- Base rental is the hourly rate times hours, or the flat half-day or full-day price.
- Tax rules vary by state and by what's taxable. This calculator applies your rate to the rental, captain, add-ons and fees; check your quote for what's actually taxed.
- Tip is figured on the rental and captain. Tipping norms vary, so use the amount you plan to give.
- Deposit is shown separately because it's usually refunded if there's no damage. Ask what counts as damage before you book.
Questions to ask before you book
- Is fuel included, charged per gallon used, or a flat fee?
- Is a captain required, and is the captain fee paid to the platform or in cash?
- What is the cancellation and weather policy?
- What insurance or damage protection is included?
