Boatsetter and Getmyboat are two of the largest peer-to-peer boat rental marketplaces. In December 2025 they announced a merger, saying both platforms and apps would stay active with no immediate changes for consumers.
What to compare on any listing
| Check | Why |
|---|---|
| Captained or self-drive | Determines whether you need a boater card and experience |
| Total price with fees | Service fees and fuel change the real cost |
| Cancellation and weather policy | Plans on the water change often |
| Insurance and deposit | Know what you'd owe if something breaks |
| Owner reviews | Recent reviews matter more than star averages |
Using both
Since inventory differs by area, search the same date and location on both sites and compare total prices and policies. Read each platform's current terms, which may change as the companies integrate.
Safety
Wear or carry a properly fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket for everyone aboard, check the weather before leaving, never boat under the influence, and tell someone your plan. See U.S. Coast Guard Boating Safety for official guidance.
